這一解釋出于《漢英大辭典》,，off year是目前使用最普遍的翻譯，但是這個(gè)翻譯卻并不貼切，因?yàn)閛ff year在英文解釋中表示“非大選年”的意 思,，被中國(guó)人轉(zhuǎn)義為“小年”,，同時(shí)off year在英文中還指果樹(shù)、竹子的歉收年,，所以off year的譯法與我們中國(guó)小年的祭灶習(xí)俗等活動(dòng)完全是風(fēng) 馬牛不相及,。

這一解釋出于《上海譯文漢英大辭典》,，意思指農(nóng)歷臘月是小建的年份,，也就是說(shuō)，農(nóng)歷臘月只有29天,，沒(méi)有年三十的年份,。同時(shí)《外研社漢英雙語(yǔ)現(xiàn)代漢語(yǔ)詞典》中也有類似解釋�,！ �
3 在《漢英詞典》中出現(xiàn)的對(duì)于小年的解 釋：festival on the 23rd or 24th of the 12th month of the lunar year, when sacrifices are made to the kitchen god 意 思是節(jié)日,，臘月二十三或二十四日，舊俗這天祭灶,。
對(duì)于小年用英語(yǔ)怎么說(shuō),，有人建議可以用Minor New Year，但New Year顯然不是春節(jié)的意思,，似可考慮Minor Spring Festival或Minor Chinese New Year的說(shuō)法,。
