　　Mark Zuckerberg returned Thursday to Harvard， where he launched Facebook and then dropped out,。

　　當(dāng)?shù)貢r間周四,，馬克·扎克伯格重返哈佛大學(xué)，在這里他創(chuàng)辦了Facebook,，之后輟學(xué),。

　　小扎激動地在自家網(wǎng)站曬出了畢業(yè)照，并寫道：

　　Mom,， I always told you I‘d come back and get my degree,。

　　媽，我一直和你說,，我會回來拿到學(xué)位的,。

　　小扎除了拿到榮譽法學(xué)博士學(xué)位（an honorary Doctor of Laws degree）之外，還被邀請在哈佛大學(xué)第366屆畢業(yè)典禮上向畢業(yè)生發(fā)表演講,。

　　演講開頭，小扎不忘抖包袱,，談及輟學(xué)經(jīng)歷,，搞起了自黑。

　　I‘m honored to be with you today because,， let’s face it,， you accomplished something I never could。 If I get through this speech,， it‘ll be the first time I actually finish something at Harvard,。

　　今天能和你們相聚這里，我倍感榮幸,。因為說實話,，你們完成了一件我完不成的事兒。不過要是今天演講順利,，這將會是我第一次在哈佛真的做完一件事,。

　　But my best memory from Harvard was meeting Priscilla,。

　　She‘s the most important person in my life,， so you could say it was the most important thing I built in my time here。

　　作為“千禧一代”，他沒有講如何發(fā)現(xiàn)自己的目標(biāo),，而是站在更高的角度,，告訴大家發(fā)現(xiàn)目標(biāo)是不夠的，這代人要創(chuàng)造一個世界,，幫助每個人發(fā)現(xiàn)自己的目標(biāo),。

　　Today I want to talk about purpose,。

　　I‘m here to tell you finding your purpose isn’t enough,。 The challenge for our generation is creating a world where everyone has a sense of purpose,。

　　我在這里要說的是，僅僅發(fā)現(xiàn)你自己的目標(biāo)是不夠的,。我們這代人面臨的挑戰(zhàn),，是創(chuàng)造一個人人都能有目標(biāo)感的世界。

　　Purpose is that sense that we are part of something bigger than ourselves,， that we are needed,， that we have something better ahead to work for。 Purpose is what creates true happiness,。

　　目標(biāo)讓我們感覺自己屬于大于自身的一部分,，感覺自己是被需要的，感覺前方有更好的東西等著我們?nèi)�為之奮斗,，目標(biāo)能創(chuàng)造真正的快樂。

　　To keep our society moving forward,， we have a generational challenge -- to not only create new jobs,， but create a renewed sense of purpose。

　　為了保持社會的進(jìn)步,，我們肩負(fù)時代的挑戰(zhàn),，不僅僅要創(chuàng)造新的工作，還要創(chuàng)造新的目標(biāo),。

　　A change in the world that seems so clear you‘re sure someone else will do it,。 But they won’t。 You will,。

　　世界的改變是顯而易見的,，你覺得很多人都將行動起來，然而行動起來的不是他們,，而是你,。

　　But it‘s not enough to have purpose yourself。 You have to create a sense of purpose for others,。

　　但是,，光有個人目標(biāo)是不夠的。你必須為他人創(chuàng)造出目標(biāo)感,。

　　他給出三種方式,，以此共同創(chuàng)造一個人人都有目標(biāo)感的世界。

　　做有意義的事

　　每代人都有做出了屬于自己時代的偉大事情,，你可能覺得無從下手,，但是沒有人從一開始就知道怎么做,。

　　Ideas don‘t come out fully formed。 They only become clear as you work on them,。 You just have to get started,。

　　沒有人的想法從一開始就是完美的，只有當(dāng)你著手做的時候才變得逐漸清晰,，你只需要開始行動起來就行了,。

　　If I had to understand everything about connecting people before I began， I never would have started Facebook,。

　　如果在開始前我就必須知道如何把人與人聯(lián)系在一起,，我就不會創(chuàng)辦Facebook了

　　做有大愿景、大情懷的事情可能會不被理解,，你要做好心理準(zhǔn)備,。

　　It‘s good to be idealistic。 But be prepared to be misunderstood,。 Anyone working on a big vision will get called crazy,， even if you end up right。 Anyone working on a complex problem will get blamed for not fully understanding the challenge,， even though it’s impossible to know everything upfront,。 Anyone taking initiative will get criticized for moving too fast， because there‘s always someone who wants to slow you down,。

　　其實,，理想主義是好事，但你要做好被誤解的準(zhǔn)備,。胸懷大志的人都會被稱為瘋子,，即使你最終獲得成功。你想解決復(fù)雜的問題,，別人就會說你不自量力,，即便你不可能事先了解一切。任何先行一步的人都會因為步子太快而受到批評,，因為總是有人想讓你慢下來,。

　　不要因為害怕犯錯就停止前進(jìn)。

　　In our society,， we often don‘t do big things because we’re so afraid of making mistakes that we ignore all the things wrong today if we do nothing,。 The reality is， anything we do will have issues in the future,。 But that can‘t keep us from starting,。

　　在社會中，我們并不經(jīng)常做一些了不起的事,，因為我們害怕犯錯,。如果我們什么都不做,，我們就忽視了今天所有的問題。事實上,，我們做的任何事情將來可能都會有問題,。但這不能阻止我們開始。

　　Let‘s do them all in a way that gives everyone in our society a role,。 Let’s do big things,， not only to create progress， but to create purpose,。

　　重新定義平等

　　扎克伯格呼吁重新定義平等，給人們更多的自由和幫助,，去追求自己真正想做的事情,。

　　JK Rowling got rejected 12 times before publishing Harry Potter。 Even Beyoncé had to make hundreds of songs to get Halo,。 The greatest successes come from having the freedom to fail,。

　　J.K。羅琳在出版《哈利波特》之前被拒絕了12次,，即使碧昂絲也不得不在數(shù)百首歌曲之后,，才有了今天Halo這首歌獲得的光環(huán),。最大的成功來自于我們享有失敗的自由,。

　　Every generation expands its definition of equality。 Previous generations fought for the vote and civil rights,。 They had the New Deal and Great Society,。 Now it‘s our time to define a new social contract for our generation。

　　We should have a society that measures progress not just by economic metrics like GDP， but by how many of us have a role we find meaningful,。

　　And as technology keeps changing， we need to focus more on continuous education throughout our lives,。

　　And yes， giving everyone the freedom to pursue purpose isn‘t free,。 People like me should pay for it,。 Many of you will do well and you should too。

　　是的,，賦予每個人追求目標(biāo)的自由,，這并非不需要代價。像我這樣的人應(yīng)當(dāng)為此付費,。在你們之中,，許多人將來都會做得很好，當(dāng)然,，你們也應(yīng)該為之付費,。

　　We can all make time to give someone a hand。 Let‘s give everyone the freedom to pursue their purpose -- not only because it’s the right thing to do,， but because when more people can turn their dreams into something great,， we‘re all better for it。

　　建立社群

　　世界上的每一個人都不是獨立的個體,，這代人可以一起行動起來終止貧困,、疾病，順應(yīng)全球化的發(fā)展,。

　　Purpose doesn‘t only come from work,。 The third way we can create a sense of purpose for everyone is by building community。 And when our generation says “everyone”,， we mean everyone in the world,。

　　目標(biāo)不僅來自于工作。去創(chuàng)造目標(biāo)感的第三種方式是建立社群,， 而當(dāng)我們這一代人說“每個人”的時候,，我們指的是世界上的每一個人。

　　Every generation expands the circle of people we consider “one of us”,。 For us,， it now encompasses the entire world。

　　每一代人都擴(kuò)大了我們認(rèn)同的“自己人”,。對我們來說,，現(xiàn)在這指的是整個世界。

　　要解決全球性的大問題,，沒有任何一個國家可以“單打獨斗”,。

　　We get that our greatest opportunities are now global -- we can be the generation that ends poverty， that ends disease,。 We get that our greatest challenges need global responses too -- no country can fight climate change alone or prevent pandemics,。 Progress now requires coming together not just as cities or nations， but also as a global community,。

　　對我們來說現(xiàn)在最大的機會是全球性的,。我們可以成為終結(jié)貧窮和消除疾病的一代人。但同時也意識到我們面臨的巨大挑戰(zhàn)也需要全球性的協(xié)作,。沒有一個國家可以單獨應(yīng)對氣候變化或預(yù)防全球性瘟疫,。要想取得進(jìn)步不能靠單個城市或國家,，更需要團(tuán)結(jié)全球,。

　　pandemics：流行病

　　目前我們處在一個不穩(wěn)定時期，有人搞孤立主義,，反對全球化,，所以要建立社群去應(yīng)對。

　　This is the struggle of our time,。 The forces of freedom,， openness and global community against the forces of authoritarianism， isolationism and nationalism,。 Forces for the flow of knowledge,， trade and immigration against those who would slow them down,。 This is not a battle of nations， it‘s a battle of ideas,。

　　這是我們時代的掙扎,。自由、開放和全球社群與權(quán)威主義,、孤立主義和民族主義勢力相抗衡,；知識流動、貿(mào)易和移民與一切想要放緩步調(diào)的力量相對抗,。這不是一場國家之間的斗爭,，而是一場思想的斗爭。

　　It‘s going to happen at the local level,， when enough of us feel a sense of purpose and stability in our own lives that we can open up and start caring about everyone,。 The best way to do that is to start building local communities right now。

　　We all get meaning from our communities,。 Whether our communities are houses or sports teams,， churches or music groups， they give us that sense we are part of something bigger,， that we are not alone,； they give us the strength to expand our horizons。

　　Change starts local,。 Even global changes start small -- with people like us,。 In our generation， the struggle of whether we connect more,， whether we achieve our biggest opportunities,， comes down to this -- your ability to build communities and create a world where every single person has a sense of purpose。

　　Class of 2017,， you are graduating into a world that needs purpose,。 It‘s up to you to create it。

　　2017屆的校友們,，你們畢業(yè)于一個需要目標(biāo)的世界,。而怎么創(chuàng)造目標(biāo)取決于你們自己。
