　　Facebook創(chuàng)始人馬克·扎克伯格可以說(shuō)是哈佛最成功的輟學(xué)生之一,，美國(guó)當(dāng)?shù)貢r(shí)間5月25日，這位“輟學(xué)生”終于拿到學(xué)位,，畢業(yè)了,！

　　Mark Zuckerberg returned Thursday to Harvard,， where he launched Facebook and then dropped out,。

　　I‘m honored to be with you today because,， let’s face it,， you accomplished something I never could。 If I get through this speech,， it‘ll be the first time I actually finish something at Harvard,。

　　Today I want to talk about purpose,。

　　今天我想談?wù)勀繕?biāo)。

　　I‘m here to tell you finding your purpose isn’t enough,。 The challenge for our generation is creating a world where everyone has a sense of purpose,。

　　我在這里要說(shuō)的是，僅僅發(fā)現(xiàn)你自己的目標(biāo)是不夠的,。我們這代人面臨的挑戰(zhàn),，是創(chuàng)造一個(gè)人人都能有目標(biāo)感的世界。

　　Purpose is that sense that we are part of something bigger than ourselves,， that we are needed,， that we have something better ahead to work for。 Purpose is what creates true happiness,。

　　To keep our society moving forward， we have a generational challenge -- to not only create new jobs,， but create a renewed sense of purpose,。

　　為了保持社會(huì)的進(jìn)步，我們肩負(fù)時(shí)代的挑戰(zhàn),，不僅僅要?jiǎng)?chuàng)造新的工作,，還要?jiǎng)?chuàng)造新的目標(biāo)。

　　A change in the world that seems so clear you‘re sure someone else will do it,。 But they won’t,。 You will,。

　　But it‘s not enough to have purpose yourself,。 You have to create a sense of purpose for others。

　　每代人都有做出了屬于自己時(shí)代的偉大事情,，你可能覺(jué)得無(wú)從下手，但是沒(méi)有人從一開(kāi)始就知道怎么做,。

　　Ideas don‘t come out fully formed,。 They only become clear as you work on them,。 You just have to get started,。

　　沒(méi)有人的想法從一開(kāi)始就是完美的，只有當(dāng)你著手做的時(shí)候才變得逐漸清晰,，你只需要開(kāi)始行動(dòng)起來(lái)就行了。

　　If I had to understand everything about connecting people before I began,， I never would have started Facebook,。

　　如果在開(kāi)始前我就必須知道如何把人與人聯(lián)系在一起，我就不會(huì)創(chuàng)辦Facebook了

　　做有大愿景,、大情懷的事情可能會(huì)不被理解,，你要做好心理準(zhǔn)備。

　　It‘s good to be idealistic,。 But be prepared to be misunderstood。 Anyone working on a big vision will get called crazy,， even if you end up right。 Anyone working on a complex problem will get blamed for not fully understanding the challenge,， even though it’s impossible to know everything upfront,。 Anyone taking initiative will get criticized for moving too fast,， because there‘s always someone who wants to slow you down,。

　　In our society， we often don‘t do big things because we’re so afraid of making mistakes that we ignore all the things wrong today if we do nothing。 The reality is,， anything we do will have issues in the future,。 But that can‘t keep us from starting,。

　　Let‘s do them all in a way that gives everyone in our society a role。 Let’s do big things,， not only to create progress,， but to create purpose。

　　JK Rowling got rejected 12 times before publishing Harry Potter,。 Even Beyoncé had to make hundreds of songs to get Halo。 The greatest successes come from having the freedom to fail,。

　　J.K。羅琳在出版《哈利波特》之前被拒絕了12次,，即使碧昂絲也不得不在數(shù)百首歌曲之后,，才有了今天Halo這首歌獲得的光環(huán)。最大的成功來(lái)自于我們享有失敗的自由,。

　　Every generation expands its definition of equality,。 Previous generations fought for the vote and civil rights。 They had the New Deal and Great Society,。 Now it‘s our time to define a new social contract for our generation,。

　　And as technology keeps changing， we need to focus more on continuous education throughout our lives,。

　　And yes,， giving everyone the freedom to pursue purpose isn‘t free。 People like me should pay for it,。 Many of you will do well and you should too,。

　　建立社群

　　世界上的每一個(gè)人都不是獨(dú)立的個(gè)體,，這代人可以一起行動(dòng)起來(lái)終止貧困,、疾病，順應(yīng)全球化的發(fā)展。

　　Purpose doesn‘t only come from work,。 The third way we can create a sense of purpose for everyone is by building community,。 And when our generation says “everyone”， we mean everyone in the world,。

　　目標(biāo)不僅來(lái)自于工作,。去創(chuàng)造目標(biāo)感的第三種方式是建立社群， 而當(dāng)我們這一代人說(shuō)“每個(gè)人”的時(shí)候,，我們指的是世界上的每一個(gè)人,。

　　Every generation expands the circle of people we consider “one of us”。 For us,， it now encompasses the entire world,。

　　每一代人都擴(kuò)大了我們認(rèn)同的“自己人”。對(duì)我們來(lái)說(shuō),，現(xiàn)在這指的是整個(gè)世界,。

　　要解決全球性的大問(wèn)題，沒(méi)有任何一個(gè)國(guó)家可以“單打獨(dú)斗”,。

　　We get that our greatest opportunities are now global -- we can be the generation that ends poverty,， that ends disease。 We get that our greatest challenges need global responses too -- no country can fight climate change alone or prevent pandemics,。 Progress now requires coming together not just as cities or nations,， but also as a global community。

　　對(duì)我們來(lái)說(shuō)現(xiàn)在最大的機(jī)會(huì)是全球性的,。我們可以成為終結(jié)貧窮和消除疾病的一代人。但同時(shí)也意識(shí)到我們面臨的巨大挑戰(zhàn)也需要全球性的協(xié)作,。沒(méi)有一個(gè)國(guó)家可以單獨(dú)應(yīng)對(duì)氣候變化或預(yù)防全球性瘟疫,。要想取得進(jìn)步不能靠單個(gè)城市或國(guó)家，更需要團(tuán)結(jié)全球,。

　　pandemics：流行病

　　目前我們處在一個(gè)不穩(wěn)定時(shí)期,，有人搞孤立主義，反對(duì)全球化,，所以要建立社群去應(yīng)對(duì),。

　　This is the struggle of our time。 The forces of freedom,， openness and global community against the forces of authoritarianism,， isolationism and nationalism。 Forces for the flow of knowledge,， trade and immigration against those who would slow them down,。 This is not a battle of nations， it‘s a battle of ideas。

　　這是我們時(shí)代的掙扎,。自由,、開(kāi)放和全球社群與權(quán)威主義、孤立主義和民族主義勢(shì)力相抗衡,；知識(shí)流動(dòng),、貿(mào)易和移民與一切想要放緩步調(diào)的力量相對(duì)抗。這不是一場(chǎng)國(guó)家之間的斗爭(zhēng),，而是一場(chǎng)思想的斗爭(zhēng),。

　　It‘s going to happen at the local level， when enough of us feel a sense of purpose and stability in our own lives that we can open up and start caring about everyone,。 The best way to do that is to start building local communities right now,。

　　We all get meaning from our communities。 Whether our communities are houses or sports teams,， churches or music groups,， they give us that sense we are part of something bigger， that we are not alone,； they give us the strength to expand our horizons,。

　　Change starts local。 Even global changes start small -- with people like us,。 In our generation,， the struggle of whether we connect more， whether we achieve our biggest opportunities,， comes down to this -- your ability to build communities and create a world where every single person has a sense of purpose,。

　　Class of 2017， you are graduating into a world that needs purpose,。 It‘s up to you to create it,。
